No.5 Restaurant & Bar

“No.5 was one of those venues where we just knew it had heart. The team at The Atticism captured that beautifully and helped us tell our story when we needed it most.”

No.5 Restaurant and Bar: Where Industrial Charm Meets Modern Dining

Client Since: 2019–2022 (Ongoing project support through COVID)

Project Type: PR & Crisis Comms, Brand Awareness, COVID-Era Strategy

Client Overview

Nestled on McCauley Street in a former gem polishing factory in Alexandria, No.5 Restaurant and Bar is a hidden treasure with a heart. Winner of the 2020 AGFG Reader’s Choice award, this venue blends industrial charm with refined dining. Led by Head Chef Emrys Jones, the menu celebrates seasonal Aussie produce through share-style snacks, small and large plates, and is perfectly paired with craft cocktails, wine, saké, and local brews.

Our Role

The Atticism was brought on board in 2019 to elevate No.5’s media profile and build community awareness. When COVID-19 hit, our partnership deepened. We supported the venue through one of the industry’s most challenging periods—developing digital-first campaigns, offering PR and crisis comms, and helping shape a clear, compassionate brand voice during uncertainty.

Scope of Work

  • Public Relations – Positioning No.5 in key food, drink, and lifestyle publications.
  • Media Engagement – Securing coverage and features for seasonal menus, chef interviews, and venue highlights.
  • Crisis Management – Navigating communications and customer engagement through lockdowns and evolving restrictions.
  • Digital & Social Strategy – Supporting visibility when dine-in was limited, including takeaway campaigns and chef-driven content.
  • Brand Voice Development – Helping refine No.5’s identity as a modern yet unpretentious destination in Sydney’s inner south.

Project Impact

Through thoughtful PR and resilient communications, The Atticism helped No.5 not only stay visible during a critical time but strengthen its community ties and emerge with renewed momentum. Our work positioned No.5 as a standout neighbourhood gem—and one with staying power.
