Lou Calen: Hotel PR for the Provencal Estate That Rebuilt a Village
International luxury travel PR across the UK, Europe and the United States
The Hotel That Rebuilt a Village
Lou Calen is not your typical luxury stay. Set in Cotignac, officially one of France’s most beautiful villages, this eco-minded Provencal estate did something unusual: rather than building a resort on the edge of a beautiful place, it quietly restored the heart of one. The bistrot on the square, the pastis bar, the village bookshop and Le Jardin Secret, the garden restaurant featured in the Michelin guide, are all part of the same story, alongside kitchen gardens that feed the menus and a suite carved into the village’s famous tufa rock. Guests here don’t stay near Cotignac. They live in it for a few days.
Our Role: International Hotel PR for a Provencal Icon
The Atticism leads Lou Calen’s international PR across the UK, Europe and the United States. Our job is simple to say and hard to do: make sure the world’s most discerning travellers, and the editors they trust, understand exactly what makes this place unlike anywhere else in Provence.
Luxury Travel PR and Media Outreach
Every pitch we send is individually written, never blasted. Our outreach spans top-tier travel, lifestyle, culture and design media across the UK, US, France, the German-speaking market and Scandinavia, and has delivered coverage from syndicated US features, including the Seattle Times, to a steady run of UK and European travel titles.
Cultural Moments That Travel
In 2026 we are coordinating media for the launch of Eric Idle’s memoir Idle in Provence at Lou Calen, a village-wide weekend of open-air cinema, a bookshop signing and dinners, working alongside the author’s team and publishers on three continents. Beyond the headline moments, we tell the hotel’s year as it actually unfolds: white parties in the vineyards, four-hands dinners in the walled garden, and wellness retreats that pair sound therapy with Gregorian chant sung by the sisters of the village monastery.
Founder Storytelling & Thought Leadership
Through long-form interviews and editorial profiling, we position owner Graham Porter’s regeneration of Cotignac as the counterpoint to overtourism: proof that luxury hospitality can give more to a place than it takes.
Press Trips & Editorial Immersion
We host journalists to the rhythm of the seasons, saffron harvest in September, quinces in October, truffles through winter, creating stays that become features rather than reviews.
Why It Matters
Luxury is no longer just about comfort. It’s about connection, values and experience. By telling stories that are true to Lou Calen and placing them with media that matter, The Atticism is helping the hotel take its place as one of Provence’s most distinctive and desirable destinations.
