CHP RSL: Locals-First Influencer Marketing in Sydney

A creator campaign built to reintroduce a venue to its own neighbourhood

The Background

Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL has been part of its corner of Sydney for generations. Sitting on Canterbury Road in Hurlstone Park, right where the Inner West meets Canterbury-Bankstown, the club has quietly transformed itself into one of the area’s most interesting venues: a refreshed sports bar in The Park, all-day dining at Cafe Brass, the HIVE space, and Wok Stars, one of the very few halal-friendly Chinese kitchens in the region. Add a weekly What’s On line-up built for locals, think free pool Mondays, 2 for 1 pizzas, $1 wings and live NRL Saturdays, and you have a venue with far more going on than most of the neighbourhood realises.

That gap is exactly why CHP RSL came to The Atticism. Great offers, great spaces, and a perception that hadn’t caught up with reality. Our brief: introduce a new generation of young adults and young families to their own local, and let the neighbourhood do the talking.

Our Role: Locals-First Influencer Marketing

The Atticism designed and manages a creator campaign built around a simple belief we’ve held for over a decade: the people who change how a suburb feels about a venue are the people who live there. Rather than a handful of paid posts from the usual faces, we built a month-long program of hosted creator visits, with genuine Canterbury-Bankstown and Inner West locals invited alongside Sydney’s established food creators.

Influencer Strategy & Creator Vetting

Every invited creator is data-vetted against our standard benchmarks for engagement, audience location and authenticity, then approved by the client before a single invitation goes out. The mix is deliberate: local voices with real community reach, family and lifestyle creators, and food accounts with an appetite for $1 wings.

Campaign Design & Booking Infrastructure

We built the full machine behind the campaign: branded booking systems with one hosted visit slot per day, automated confirmations, voucher and arrival processes designed with the venue team, and live shared tracking so the club can see exactly who is visiting, and when, at any moment. Nobody is paid, nobody is scripted. Creators visit, eat, drink and post because they had a good night.

Community Positioning

The content brief centres the club’s What’s On weekly specials and its halal-friendly Wok Stars offering, positioning CHP RSL as what it actually is: a modern, welcoming local for everyone in the postcode, from students after cheap wings to young families after an easy weeknight dinner.

Watch This Space

The campaign is live now, with creators visiting through August 2026. Results to come, but let’s just say the neighbourhood is talking. Follow along at @chprsl and #chprsl.
