“The Atticism truly understood who we are and what we stand for. They helped translate that into a brand and experience that speaks directly to our community. They’ve been with us through lockdowns, launches, and now expansion — and we keep coming back for a reason.”

Black Market Coffee: From Discovery to Brand Reinvention
Client Since: 2021 (multiple projects)
Client Overview
Founded by industry veterans behind Top Hat Coffee Merchants and Swallow Coffee Traders, Black Market Coffee is known for bold flavour, craft precision, and a community-first approach. With a roastery in Botany and a flagship space in Marrickville that includes a café, tasting bar, and training facility, Black Market Coffee is deeply embedded in Sydney’s specialty coffee culture.
Our Role
The Atticism was initially engaged in 2021 to conduct a full discovery audit for Black Market Coffee. This strategic review laid the foundation for a brand refresh, aligning the company’s visual identity and communications strategy with its evolving goals and customer base.
From there, we managed the PR rollout of their new Marrickville warehouse concept—a hybrid space blending retail, education, and roastery operations. We supported Black Market through the Sydney lockdowns, helping implement their takeaway and drive-thru offerings, as well as building media buzz around key activations and collaborations.
In 2022, Black Market re-engaged us for a dedicated campaign around their collaboration with local bakery icon Pane Paradiso. This project focused on both hyper-local community engagement and wider visibility in Sydney’s food and lifestyle press.
